Six Flags Challenge
Walking miles... and that's just from the parking lot
Eric suggested that we go to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom today, which is approximately 2 hours from our house. We have season passes through next year. My Apple watch says I walked just over 11,000 steps and approximately 4 miles. It sure felt like more walking than that!
I did better than I expected. Fortunately, all of the seat belts fit. The biggest challenge was getting in and out of the train (very tight space) and in and out of this:
and this:
...because in both cases, the floor and seats were very wet and I will reference you back to that “fear of falling” thing from before. It was a super fun day. We did not ride any coasters. We spent a good bit of time on the animal side of the park.
Of course, my concern was about being compliant. We had a big breakfast at a truckstop diner in Sacramento and that used up almost all of my points for the day. I still had my entire cache of weekly points to use, so I was not worried. Leaving breakfast with 8 points left, I did not eat anything until dinner around 5:00 pm. Eric suggested we stop at our favorite Italian place, Johnny Carino’s in Fairfield.
I was tempted. Not gonna lie, but I told him I knew if I did, I would blow through too many points by the time I got through fried mozarella and chicken alfredo… twice, because there’s no way I could eat an entire serving in one sitting. I found a Mongolian BBQ restaurant we had never been to and wow, it was amazing. I ended up using the maximum number of points for the day, but did not exceed them since the food was lean meat and fresh vegetables quickly stirfried.
For those who are interested, it is at 121 Sunset Ave. Ste A. Suisun City, CA 94585. It was some of the best Mongolian BBQ I have ever had and let me tell you, I am a Mongolian snob. Unlike most Mongolian BBQ restaurants, they have a full menu of Chinese foods to order as well.
I left feeling full and content, but also knowing I had remained compliant.
I did some research tonight and confirmed that on June 20, 2022, when I was admitted to the hospital for my surgery, they charted my weight at 283. Of course, that is wearing clothes, but the clothes do not weigh 30 pounds. That means that at my most recent lowest, which I hope to hit again by the end of this coming week, I will have lost 30 pounds since then. I swear, I feel every ounce of it.
One of the things I love about weight loss is that while you about how content and fulfilled you will be when you get to your goal weight, in the interim, you feel better all the time. If I lose five pounds, I feel positively wraith-like. Ten pounds, and wow! I must be invisible by now! Most women would likely be horrified to weigh what I do and some people would give anything to weigh that much. It’s all relative perspective.
When it comes down to it, it’s a number. Weight is an objective descriptor and culturally and societally, we impose judgment on the number after a certain point. In truth, it is information. But man, that information is heavy when you drag it all over a theme park.
I do look forward to being smaller. My knees really felt all that walking today. It would have been much easier if I didn’t have to shag that extra 100 pounds or so with me everywhere I go, up hill and over dale. I want to see what that feels like.
But I did it and all of that walking added a bunch of extra points into my weekly extra points (that I won’t likely use).
Coming up soon, I will talk about some of the tools I use to make this journey easier.

You're the best and I appreciate any and all of your help. <3
